Thought Systems and Network Centric Warfare

چکیده
The notion of Thought Warfare and Anti-Warfare (TWAW) has been introduced in earlier work as a way of thinking about future military conflict and its avoidance. TWAW involves the dynamic interaction of allies and adversaries Thought Systems. Current Thought Systems involve entities capable of cognition, emotion and volition typically (groups of) people interacting via networks of information and data systems. This paper summarises a conceptualisation, ie a system of ideas, of the domain of Thought Systems. The relationship between TWAW and Network Centric Warfare (NCW) is explained: TWAW encompasses NCW. Unlike NCW, TWAW explicitly considers the interaction of will and feelings as well as knowledge, information and data in networked systems of people and machines in both the conduct of war and in the maintenance of peace. This affords various new insights that may be of significance to the NCW community.

WISDOM-II: A Network Centric Model for Warfare
With recognition of warfare as a complex adaptive system, a number of AgentBased Distillation Systems (ABDs) for warfare have been developed and adopted to study the dynamics of warfare and gain insight into military operations. These systems have facilitated the analysis and understanding of combat. However, these systems are unable to meet the new needs of defence, arising from current practi...

Modern land commanders are increasingly dependent on information-age systems comprising communications and information systems, networks and sensors. While these systems have the potential to produce significant changes in the conduct and character of war, their reliance on the electromagnetic spectrum also has the potential to increase their vulnerability to interdiction by electronic-warfare ...
متن کاملNetwork-Centric Warfare: Its Origin and Future
We are in the midst of a revolution in military affairs (RMA) unlike any seen since the Napoleonic Age, when France transformed warfare with the concept of levŽe en masse. Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Jay Johnson has called it "a fundamental shift from what we call platform-centric warfare to something we call network-centric warfare," and it will prove to be the most important RMA in the ...
متن کاملA Taxonomy of Network Centric Warfare Architectures
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) is committed to transitioning, over time, to Network Centric Warfare (NCW). NCW sees the elements of the ADF as “nodes” in a network. The capability of such a force is determined not so much by the individual capabilities of each node, but by the systems properties of the network as a whole. In this paper, we provide a taxonomy of possible NCW architectures, i...
